I am starting work in a hospital soon. I'll be working in an office primarily, at a desk/computer, not a lab bench. I was wondering what typical premed/student attire is in the hospitals. When I had my interview I wore dress pants and shirt, but I'm a shorts/t-shirt guy, will ride my bike, and its very hot here in the summer and I don't feel like wearing pants. Is there a general dress code within the hospital?

How important are publications from the Undergraduate scientific journal in applying to med school? How hard is it to be published in the undergrad scientific journal?

How long does an individual usually shadow for? I spoke with my family physician about a week ago and he said we could work something out to where I could shadow him for a week or two. I was hoping I could do it the duration of the summer, so just wondering if a week or two is the average time an individual shadows?

I was curious if MDs and DOs can do the same professions, for example can DOs be anesthesiologists, otolaryngologists, radiation oncologists...etc.? I know they can compete for the same residencies, but are there residencies for these professions just in the DO department also?
